FC Farsley secured back-to-back home victories by edging out Leeds Medics and Dentists 3-2 in a Throstle Nest thriller.
The home side, backed again by sizeable support, claimed a hard-fought victory in a game full of drama, chances and late tension.
Farsley deservedly took the lead when Joe Storer’s powerful cross-shot whistled into the Medics’ top corner in the 17th minute. And star striker Lewis Hanse added a second four minutes later with a composed finish low and Gard past the visiting goalkeeper.
With Farsley in control, the entertaining first half took a other turn a couple of minutes later when the visitors pulled a goal back after finding too much space in the Farsley area – despite claims for a foul in the build up.
The rest of the first half saw the visitors put the Farsley goal under pressure, until on the stroke of half time Farsley were awarded a penalty. But Lewis Hanse rattled the bar and spurned the chance to put his side 3-1 up.
The second half saw chances for both teams – including a strong penalty shout from Medics and Dentists for handball – until the visitors took advantage of some poor defending in the 76th minute to draw level.
The game was decided nine minutes from time, when man of the match Tyler Polwarth drove forward from just outside the box and smashed it past the Medics and Dentists goalkeeper at his near post with a powerful shot.
in the 85th-minute Aiden Hawkridge’s free kick was well saved by the Medics and Dentists goalkeeper, who then denied the follow up as well.
The visitors weren’t done and exerted some late pressure in search of an equaliser, with Farsley’s defence standing strong to see out a hard-fought victory.
