Swallow Hill: Year 7 rugby lose to Hull but look to improve

Sadly, year 7 crashed out of the Yorkshire Plate cup against a vastly superior opposition from Hull on Monday afternoon, writes Pat Doherty.

Playing in their first-ever game together the year 7s found it tough in the first half as the opposition starved them of possession and racked up 6 unanswered tries to post a 26-0 half time score.

The score was kept low as they struggled to score all but one of their conversions, even from under the posts. The second half saw a vast improvement and an increase in share of possession.

Up until five minutes remaining they had only conceded one try. Eventually, pressure told and the Year 7s let in two further tries making the final score 0-38 to the visitors from Humberside.

Notable performances from the home team came from Levi Gaines and Kaiden Longthorne. Man of the match was awarded to Tom Garlic.

Hopefully we can improve on our next outing!
