Still time to enter Horsforth Harriers’ Apperley Bridge Canter 2026

The scenic annual Apperley Bridge Canter – organised by the Horsforth Harriers – still has a few spaces left.

The 10k (ish) evening race will be held on Thursday, 28 May 2026 at 7.15pm at Woodhouse Grove School. It winds through the scenic trails and backroads of Apperley Bridge and Horsforth.

Horsforth Harriers, who were founded in 1985, has grown from ten members to over 300. Many of them will be marshalling on the course. The club welcomes both experienced and new runners, with a special group for absolute beginners.

A spokesperson said: “The canter is a really lovely community event. As well as raising money for the Horsforth Harriers club, we’ll also have a cake stall at the finish. All proceeds from the stall will go to the Rob Burrow MND charity, which we’re really proud to support.

“We’re widely regarded as one of the friendliest running clubs in North West Leeds. We welcome all abilities – from brand‑new runners to experienced competitors.

“Our membership is over 300 strong, made up of men and women aged 18 to 80. Anyone joining us benefits from the huge amount of experience, support and knowledge within the club.”

The race, which is in its 20th year, is popular with local running clubs. All participants receive a memento.

If you want to grab a place, you can register on the Race Best website.

Refreshments on the day will be kindly provided by fareshareyorkshire.org.
