Organisers of this year’s Bramley Festival have cancelled the event due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.

The popular event was due to be held in Bramley Park in August, but organisers have taken the decision to cancel and announce the date of 2021’s event – Sunday 22 August.

One of the organisers, Stephen McBarron, said:

“Owing to the continuing coronavirus outbreak and in the interests of public safety the Bramley Festival scheduled for August 2020 has been postponed until 2021.

“The event is now in its fourth year since it was relaunched in 2017 and was very well attended last August.

“The organisers hope the event next year will be the biggest and best ever and look forward to welcoming everyone to Bramley Park on Sunday 22 August 2021.”

Bramley’s annual celebration is the latest community festival to fall victim to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kirkstall Festival on 13 July 2020 has been cancelled and next year’s event will be held 20 July 2021.

Farsley Festival 2020 has been postponed from June 27 and organisers Farsley Community Initiative hope to hold some sort of event later in the year.

Pudsey Carnival 2020 has also been postponed, with the carnival committee hoping for a date later in the year.

Armley Festival 2020 is still currently scheduled for Saturday, 20 July.
