Sadly, due to several players being injured or unavailable for various reasons Bramley were unable to raise a team for the proposed visit to Dodworth Miners and so conceded a 0-24 loss as the league rules state in such circumstances.
A Thursday night under floodlights at the Blue Hill Lane stadium saw the Buffaloes gain their first victory of the season as the defeated Berkenshaw Blue Dogs 37-24.
Tries by Kieran McFarlane (2), Ethan McFarlane, Jacob Oldroyd and Jack Iceton with goals coming from Lewis Gaunt (5) and Kacper Mroz (1) plus a drop goal by the impressive Kieran McFarlane bringing the “Buffs” total to a deserved 37 points.
At present Bramley lie in seventh place in the eight-team league due to conceding two match points due to the postponement of the Dodworth Miners match, otherwise they would be in fifth position. Dodworth are at the top of the table with four wins from five matches, with East Hull in second place with two wins from two matches.
Next up for the Buffaloes is a YML Trophy home match against Illingworth on Saturday 24 May with a 2.30pm kick-off at West Leeds Rugby Unions Blue Hill Lane ground.
Illingworth have two wins and two defeats in their four league games so far this season and so a tight and exciting match should be expected for the spectators to enjoy.
Many thanks to Andy and Devon Johnson for their superb match reports.
