West Leeds family among walkers taking on Three Peaks Challenge

By Diane Gardner

Members of the same West Leeds family took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday, 16 May in memory of late Barca Leeds colleague Peter Richards.

The family members included Paula Gardner, her daughter Ashleigh Gardner and nieces Samantha Gardner, Gaynor Widdowson Lisa Gardner and Aimee Harris.

They all managed to complete either one, two or three of the peaks, although a couple of them sustained injuries during the challenge and there were a few sore feet and backs on Sunday.

Gaynor said: “The peak of Ingleborough was brutal, but I managed to keep going.”

The family, who live in Kirkstall, Pudsey and Wortley, were accompanied by a pink duck, on behalf of Cm ducks. Cm ducks are bright coloured ducks given as gifts and associated with people who have or had breast cancer. They have a number and people take them on their travels and take photos and post them.

People can still donate to the Barca-Leeds Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge crowdfunder here.

Barca Leeds staff, friends and supporters took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk raising vital funds for Peter’s Fund, which provides vital support — from clothing and heating to essential household items and practical help that enables people to feel safe, valued and ready to rebuild their lives.
