Horsforth Town Street venue Beyond the Red Door celebrates its first birthday this weekend with live music, DJ sets and good food and drinks.
The venue has quickly established itself as a much-loved part of Horsforth’s social scene with a varied programme of events of all kinds for the community to enjoy.
Noel Johnson, from Beyond the Red Door, told us the venue began as a family idea to bring a different kind of venue to Horsforth.
He said: ”Beyond the Red Door started as a family idea to create the kind of venue we felt was missing in Horsforth: a welcoming, family and dog-friendly bar serving great cocktails, quality beers, good food, and our own handmade spirits from The Little Red Berry Company, while also providing a home for live entertainment. A year on, we’re still very much on that journey.
“Since opening in June last year, we’ve welcomed hundreds of customers through our doors, been nominated for Best New Bar at the Oliver Awards, expanded from serving drinks alone to offering food, and continued to invest in improving the premises wherever we can.
“We’ve also been proud to employ local people, support Horsforth Community Pantry as our nominated charity, and regularly open our bar for community use.
“One of the things we’re most proud of is the live entertainment we’ve brought to the area. We’ve welcomed some fantastic bands, singers, and artists to perform at our venue, while also creating opportunities for emerging local artists to take the next step and perform in front of new audiences.
“It’s a challenging time for independent hospitality businesses, which makes reaching our first birthday particularly special. The support we’ve received from the local community has been incredible and has allowed us to continue growing and developing the business.”
The weekend celebrations begin with the regular Northern Soul night starting at 7pm. On Saturday there’ll be live DJs during the day and the celebrations wind down on Sunday with breakfast sandwiches from midday, an afternoon barbecue and live music later on.
Noel was keen to acknowledge the support of the Horsforth community.
“For us, this milestone is really about more than reaching a first birthday,” he said. “It’s about seeing our family idea become part of the Horsforth community and continuing to grow with the support of local people.”
