West Leeds Dispatch‘s community reporters, trustees and supporters were thanks for their incredible contributions this week.
The event, at Bramley Villagers Club, was held to coincide with National Volunteers Week, which celebrates and recognises the contributions of volunteers who make a difference in their community.
WLD is led by a board of volunteers trustees and written by a team of more than 100 trained volunteer community reporters, and is also supported by generous donations from our readers.
Chair Anne Akers thanked everyone in the room for their ‘amazing’ contributions, which are helping readers become more connected and active in their communities.
WLD editor John Baron said after the event that the ultimate purpose of a free press is to help communities – and democracy – thrive. “I’m proud of the work all our volunteers who help us to achieve just that,” he added.
