Horsforth: CCTV cameras, planters and art classes funding to be decided

CCTV cameras in Horsforth could be re-funded by city councillors at the next Outer North West Community Committee meeting.

Councillors are being asked to provide £5,000 towards providing and monitoring CCTV cameras at the Old Ball roundabout, New Road Side, and Horsforth Town Street. They have funded the scheme in previous years.

It’s one of several projects and schemes seeking funding from the committee, which covers Horsforth, Guiseley and Rawdon, Otley and Yeadon and Weetwood wards.

Other Horsforth projects hoping for funding include:

  • £4,998 for Summer Arts Club, to provide art classes for young people aged seven to 14 in Horsforth. There will be 12 events across six weeks of the summer holiday.
  • Horsforth Town Team has asked for £2,529 to provide three planters, including seating, on New Road Side. The planters will also be part of a joint art project with local children and young people.
  • £1,610 for Horsforth grit bin refills and new bin on King George Avenue.
  • Volunteers from Horsforth in Bloom are asking for £500 cover costs in maintaining Jubilee Gardens. The money would provide items such as compost and plants, ensuring that it is sustainable and climate resilient while providing an attractive natural space.
  • £500 from Horsforth’s funding pot towards the Outer North West Community Youth Summit.
  • £590 towards diversionary, challenging and rewarding activities primarily during school holidays to young people engaging with the Youth Service.

Funding for projects from the other threee wards will also be decided.

The committee will meet on Monday, 15 June at 6pm at The Grove Centre in Town Street, Horsforth. Members of the public can attend and there is an open forum section at the start of the meeting where members of the public can make representations to the committee.

This article was updated on 7 June to clarify the CCTV scheme had previously been funded by the committee.
