Become a Community Reporter

West Leeds Dispatch is people-powered local media! It’s written by the people of West Leeds, for the people of West Leeds. Our community reporters cover all kinds of things, from attending local events, following campaigns, telling people’s stories and highlighting the work of local groups – and lots more! We run community reporter training courses to give you the basic skills and confidence. Some people learn to write, some turn into photographers, others enjoy using video – some use all these (and more!) in their storytelling. The courses and workshops we run are all free, friendly, informal and aimed at beginners. They also look good on your CV and are a good way of gaining new transferable skills – and you’ll get to use our new people-powered community newsroom at Bramley Lawn. If you’re interested in joining our team of more than 50 community reporters, drop editor John Baron a line on news@westleedsdispatch.com.

OUR NEXT FREE COURSE:

Join us on Thursday, October 19 for six sessions finishing on 23 November 2023. Sessions run in the Bobbin Room at Sunny Bank Mills off Farsley Town Street from 7pm-9pm. Tickets are free! E-mail news@westleedsdispatch.com for more info or to book.
