Horsforth Green Festival took place in the sunshine on Sunday, 20 September, with music, community, and sustainability at the heart of this free family-friendly event.
The crowds came out to enjoy the entertainment laid on by organisers Horsforth Climate Action, in partnership with Friends of Horsforth Hall Park. Visitors watched a series of bands take to the main stage, as well as the band stand, alongside folk dancers.
The Orchestra of Objects attraction, run by Ben Gates, was a huge hit with children and adults alike, who had great fun beating out rhythms on all manner of recycled pipes and percussion instruments.
Horsforth Town of Sanctuary organiser Laura Schubert said: “It’s been great to see the good work being done in the community by all the groups here. We’ve had eight asylum seekers volunteering and helping us today.
“They’ve been setting up stalls, taking them down again, and running an apple press for much of the day. We’ve had lots of positive support from everyone.” Laura also thanked councillor, Cathy Gillinder for her part in organising the event.
There were many stalls in the park, promoting community activities and offering help for those looking to live more sustainably. Horsforth In Bloom looked to be having busy day. Food and drink stalls that were very popular in the warm weather.
