On Saturday afternoon, Gott’s Park Mansion opened its doors as part of the Heritage Open Days scheme. The event was organised by Leeds Civic Trust and Gott’s Park Golf Club.
The Mansion, set in stunning parkland designed by Humphry Repton, is now the clubhouse for the golf club. Dr Patrick Eyres gave a wonderful illustrated presentation, covering the history of house and grounds.
Clive Walton, Head Greenkeeper, Secretary, and Director of Gott’s Park Golf Club, also provided a fascinating insight into the Mansion’s past and conducted a tour of the building. He also told the visitors about plans to restore the property to its former glory.
West Leeds Dispatch was lucky enough to also be invited to venture down into the vast cellars that run beneath the mansion. Here is a slideshow of photos from the event:
