Councillors are set to decide whether to grant a premises licence for a new mini market and off licence in Bramley.
Members of the licensing submitted-committee will later this month whether to approve and application by Mohamad Delshad Enayati, for 44 Lower Town Street, Bramley. The shop will trade in the former William Hill bookies, opposite the Barley Mow pub.
If approved, alcohol would be sold daily for consumption off premises from 7am-11am.
The applicant has agreed to a number of measures including installing and maintaining a CCTV system, running an incidents log, with spirits stored behind the counter and the applicant operating a Challenge 25 age policy.
While police and Environmental health have withdrawn initial objections to the proposals following negations with Mr Enayati, the council’s Public Health Team and 12 local residents have objected, including a Bramley & Stanningley ward councillor.
Concerns include increased noise, disturbance and anti-social behaviour, along with high rates of alcohol-related health issues in Bramley. Nearby Second Bramley Scouts have also raised concerns over car parking and anti-social behaviour.
