Horsforth Town Council is now inviting nominations for this year’s Heart of Horsforth Awards.
The awards, which acknowledge achievements by groups, organisations or individuals in the town, will be presented at the Christmas lights switch on in December and nominations close at noon on 1 September.
There are five award categories and nominations are welcome to honour the work of work by groups and individuals in the following categories:
- Volunteering award – for individuals or groups under the age of 21 who have made a difference to their community through their volunteering.
- Volunteering award – for individuals or groups aged 21 and over who have made a difference to their community through volunteering.
- Business award – for a business which has supported or worked with the community.
- Community award – for a voluntary organisation delivering a service to the community.
- Environmental award – an individual or group who has led, delivered or supported work aimed at making Horsforth greener, cleaner or safer.
A Horsforth Town Council spokesperson said: “Horsforth Town Council knows that it is important to recognise the hard work and successes of local people making a difference for Horsforth.
“Each year we have acknowledged and highlighted these achievements through the Heart of Horsforth Awards.
“They could be an amazing athlete, a creative artist or an excellent student. They may be an outstanding fundraiser, an inspirational carer or a volunteer going the extra mile.
“We want to know about anyone or any group who stands out and has made a difference within their community.
“Whatever their story Horsforth Town Council would like to hear from you. This is a great opportunity to acknowledge and highlight the achievements of Horsforth residents.”
Last year’s winners of the award were Cragg Hill and Woodside Residents Group, Fay Cartledge at Daisy First Aid, Horsforth Shed and last year’s volunteering (over 21s) award winner Jen Lewis, coach at Horsforth Cricket Club.
