Next phase of Dawsons Corner road closures revealed

As part of the Dawsons Corner and Stanningley Bypass improvement scheme, the next phase of work will involve upgrading the permanent safety barriers around Wood Nook Tunnel on the A647 Stanningley Bypass northbound.

The £44 million scheme aims to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow, and create a safer, more attractive environment for all road users. Work includes a new road layout, pedestrian and cycle crossings and upgraded traffic signals at Dawsons Corner.

To allow the next phase of work to be carried out safely, there will be overnight road closures from 8pm on Monday, 15 June to 5am on Tuesday, 16 June.

Pudsey Ring Road on the A647 Stanningley Bypass will be closed from the approach to Richardshaw Lane through to Dawsons Corner.

A signed diversion route will be in place.

Access to Owlcotes Shopping Centre will not be affected, but drivers are urged to follow the diversion route when travelling to and from the shopping centre during the night works.

A contingency night is planned for Tuesday, 16 June into Wednesday, 17 June, in case of adverse weather.
