Tia Williams, a musician and Leeds Conservatoire graduate, has opened a new community choir in Horsforth.
And she is inviting local people to join Local Vocals and experience the joy of singing and making new friends in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
If you’re ready to find your voice and do something that will benefit your physical and mental wellbeing, now is the perfect time to get involved.
The choir meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm at Lister Hill Baptist Church, singing feel-good songs with no auditions, no singing alone and no reading music.
Tia, who leads three other thriving Local Vocals choirs in West Yorkshire, is excited to get started in Horsforth.
She said: “I have seen how much our choirs positively impact people’s lives. Some of our choir were so nervous before they came along for the first time, telling themselves that they can’t sing.
“They’ve now found their voice in our welcoming singing community and feel so good after every rehearsal. One lady in particular said she was really struggling with loneliness, and now she has made lots of new local friends who meet outside of choir rehearsals and performances too.”
The choir sings a diverse range of songs by artists such as Oasis, Adele, Take That, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Stevie Wonder and many more, with unique arrangements and exciting performance opportunities locally and regionally..
The ethos behind Local Vocals is to raise money for local charities through the joy of singing, and so far, Local Vocals’ community choirs have raised a whopping £56,000 for good causes.
“Now, more than ever, we are in need of joy, connection, friendship and the benefits of being part of a thriving local community,” Tia added.
