Plans to build a new two-storey building to include eight small industrial units will help boost a Farsley business park, the developer has said.

Plans for a two-storey detached building and an enlarged car park have been submitted by Gaunt Ltd at Springfield Mills Commercial Centre, off Bagley Lane.

Eight light industrial units will be housed in the new building, which would be in the centre of the site.

Plans will adapt and extend partsof the existing car park to create additional parking on land currently unused and overgrown to the western edge of the site.

A total of 55 car parking bays will be created in the proposal. This total will off-set the 31 existing car parking bays lost due to the new industrial building.

A planning statement accompanying the application concludes: “The proposal aims to achieve a high-quality design solution that relates well to the existing buildings on site, is appropriate in scale to the location and provides quality business accommodation to maximise employment potential.”

Springfield Mills Commercial Centre extends across a six-acre site. It accommodates a wide range of business uses housed in a collection of buildings, centred around a former textile mill. The various buildings across the site date from the 1860s to late 1980s.

The plans can be viewed in full here.
