Independent businesses in Farsley have signed up to a gift card scheme encouraging people to support local shops and restaurants this Christmas.
And, as an added bonus, FirstLeeds is offering free bus trips so people can visit and socialise in their favourite independent businesses across the city.
Mill Kitchen, Grumpys and Saint Jude have all signed up to the OPEN gift card, which can already be used in more than 80 locations across the city centre and suburbs including Farsley, Meanwood, Chapel Allerton and Horsforth; with more indie businesses being added every week.
The three founders launched the business in lockdown a year ago. They have joined forces with the FirstLeeds to provide a free bus ticket which gives unlimited trips for a day with every new gift card ordered.
The travel offer is available to the person ordering the gift card and the friend or loved one they are giving it to.
Paul Lenihan Co-founder of OPEN Gift Card, said:
“We’re delighted to announce this partnership with First West Yorkshire, it’s great that they share the same passion as us in supporting local businesses and communities across Leeds.
“As each OPEN gift card can be spent in any of the 80+ registered businesses, you can now go exploring new areas and enjoy new experiences – and it’s free to get there!”
Ross Johnstone, Commercial Manager of First West Yorkshire, said:
“As Christmas approaches everyone is looking for a gift that’s a bit different and new places to go shopping, enjoy a day out or an evening with friends and family. Through this partnership with OPEN we believe it combines to create an ideal present to go exploring, find new places to visit and try the bus to get there.”
