Even Santa takes his hat off to the festivities at Kirkstall Abbey House Museum! All housed in its own unique historical setting.
Photographer Susan Tellum captured the museum in the run up to Christmas.
The museum is threatened by closure due to council budget cuts, with a public consultation under way over the building’s future.
Here’s a gallery of her photos:
Beautiful street scene at one of the best museums in Leeds. Unique in showing what a Yorkshire street looks like back in the treasured victorian times.
This place must not be closed, Leeds City Council Must find savings elsewhere, perhaps by asking The West Yorkshire Combined Authority for a grant to keep local museums open to adhere to the Best City Ambition and keep the Museum’s activities open to cater for older people and schools.
A national lottery grant, or perhaps investment from the National Trust & English Herratage due to its links with Kirkstall Abbey and the history of Leeds will help- the LCC administration must keep Abbey House museum open, instead of taking this vital community facility on a road to nowhere.
