Hollybush Conservation Centre in Kirkstall will open its wildlife garden today (Sunday, Dec 18) to let people see its fairy inhabitants.

From 5pm until 8pm fairy lights and candles will illuminate tableau reflecting a Hollybush version of the Twelve Days of Christmas; you’ll find sprites a-sawing, elves eating and brownies beekeeping. Santa will be in his grotto and children can toast marshmallows on the fire.

The popular community cafe moves into othe decorated barn, with Hot and spicy mulled juice and home-made cake for grownups; and there may be a few last-minute stocking fillers available too for anyone who falls in love with the fairies.

Lisa Cockerton, from the Friends of Hollybush, said:

“We love to give children and families a reason to get out and explore in the dark, many city children are kept indoors these days and they love the adventures to be found in our garden.”

You can book tickets to see Santa here.
