Regular bin collections in Leeds will start at the earlier time of 6am tomorrow (Monday, 18 July 2022) due to the hot weather.
People are encouraged to get their bins out by 6am at latest to allow bin crews to work in lower temperatures.
The move will continue while the current red alert for hot weather is on place, which currently includes Tuesday, 19 July 2022. Temperatures in Leeds are expected to reach up to 39 degrees celsius over the next two days.
Leeds City Council said today that crews will not be returning to collect any bins put out after this time and added: “Thank you for your help and support – and thank you to all our brilliant refuse staff.”
Thank you for that information, it doesn’t apply to me but it’s made me aware of what might happen.
