Fulneck: St Peter’s Singers perform choral music for Christmas

Fresh from its acclaimed account of the choral elements in the recent Leeds Town Hall presentation of Michael Morpurgo’s “War Horse”, St Peter’s Singers’ next stop is historic Fulneck Moravian Church.

The Singers are presenting a gala programme of Sacred Choral Music for Advent and Christmas at the Pudsey on Saturday, 1 December at 7pm.

Admission is free and a retiring collection will be taken in support of Fulneck Church Organ Fund.

Soloists Jane Burnell, Lucy Appleyard, David Brown and Quentin Brown (bass) are joined by Principal Soloists from The National Festival Orchestra led by Sally Robinson and organist David Houlder make up the line-up.

Fulneck resident Dr Simon Lindley, Music Director of St Peter’s Singers, will be conducting this special performance in his 42nd season as the Choir’s Music Director.

The first half of the programme comprises Bach’s greatly-loved Cantata: “Sleepers, wake”, Holst’s Carol Medley, “Christmas Day” and Vincent Novello’s glorious setting of “Adeste, fideles”.

The second half consists of Part One of Handel’s “Messiah” closing with the “Hallelujah” Chorus. Entrance to the Fulneck Settlement is from the Roker Lane/Far Town end and there is ample car parking.
