Farsley Celtic look for home comforts ahead of crunch Kettering game

Farsley Celtic return home on Tuesday, looking to bounce back as they welcome fellow strugglers Kettering Town to the Citadel.

The Celts will be smarting after a second half collapse saw them slip to a 5-1 away defeat at Gloucester on Saturday. They’ll be looking for their first home win since April in what is already shaping up to be a six-pointer.

Kettering Town have also been struggling of late, losing their last four games to leave them 20th in the division, just two points above Farsley. They are also winless on the road.

Despite the season being a little over a quarter of the way through, this has the makings of an important game for both sides.

However, boss Russ Wilcox does not want to place too much emphasis on a single game, as he said: “All games are big, I look at it like that, every game you’ve got an opportunity to win three points.

“Things can turn quickly, Bradford Park Avenue have won again, everyone had them dead and buried but they’ve got a couple of wins now.

“We’ve got to stick together, we’ve got to get through this period, we’ve got to get people back, that’s a certainty.”

And remaining proactive in strengthening the squad is undoubtedly something Wilcox believes can get Farsley moving in the right direction.

He continued: “We haven’t got a big squad. The depth of the squad probably isn’t probably big enough, certainly compared to other teams, but we accept that, we are where we are for a reason, but it would be nice to get a couple more in if we could to put pressure on people in certain positions.”

Boss Russ Wilcox is likely to still be without some of his more experienced defenders as Lewis Turner, Andy Butler and Adam Clayton battle for fitness. Butler is awaiting the results of a precautionary scan, while Clayton remains a couple of weeks away from a return.
