Residents across West Leeds are being invited to become part of a unique community artwork as Full Circle Funerals launches two new free workshops to expand its Bramley Mural Project.
Originally created through funding from Leeds 2023, the mural on the side of Full Circle Funerals’ Bramley premises has become a lasting symbol of love, loss and remembrance. Designed by local people and brought to life by a Bramley artist, the artwork reflects the community’s shared experiences of death, dying and bereavement.
Now, thanks to support from Leeds City Council and a continued partnership with Firefly Pottery in Bramley, the project is entering its third phase with two additional ceramic leaf workshops taking place this October.
Participants will have the opportunity to decorate one of 20 handcrafted ceramic leaves in memory of someone they have lost. Once completed, the leaves will be permanently added to the mural’s tree, joining the 40 leaves already in place and creating an ever-growing tribute to those who continue to live on in the hearts of family and friends.
The workshops are free to attend, with all materials provided and no artistic experience required.
David Billington, Community Impact Lead at Full Circle Funerals, said: “When we first created the mural, we wanted to start conversations about grief in a way that felt hopeful, creative and rooted in our local community. The response has been incredible, with so many people telling us how much it means to see their loved one represented within the artwork.
“These new workshops give even more people the opportunity to become part of that story. Every ceramic leaf represents a life that continues to matter and reminds us that while someone may no longer be physically present, their impact and legacy remain.”
The workshops will take place at Firefly Pottery. Places are free but must be booked in advance.
