Bramley: Man arrested following Poplar Mount tower block blaze

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a high rise block of flats in Bramley last night.

Firefighters put out a fire at a ground floor flat in Poplar Mount 2 just before midnight (Thursday, 23 April). No-one was injured.

 A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said enquiries were ongoing today and added:

“A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is currently in custody.

“Anyone who witnessed anything or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District Safeguarding Unit via 101 quoting crime reference 13200202666 or online.

“Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
