A great performance from Forge Way Girls U13s Greys, running out 2-1 winners at Eldwick.
Bit of a shuffle around today with Myli moving to left back, Leah back in midfield, with Lily RM dropping in to support and Ruby up top.
The girls flew out of the blocks, using the large pitch, with Maddie and Daisy causing problems out wide. Five minutes in Maddie cut inside and unleashed into the top corner 1-0.
Next 10 Forge Way continued to control and create chances, Maddie had one saved on the line, Ruby was denied from close range before Poppy found space to break through and finish, 2-0.
With 10 minutes to go Eldwick found space and the winger finished really well from out wide, 2-1 going into half time.
Second half Forge Way tried to press for the third goal and again came close, with Poppy and Sophia firing just wide.
With 10 left Poppy broke through clipping the ball to the far post for Ruby to tap in. VAR decided Ruby was in an offside position, very dubious to keep the scores at 2-1. Both teams battled on but no further score with Forge Way taking the points.
Massive effort today girls with no subs on a warm day and a huge pitch.

What a game of football from Forge Way Girls U11s, winning 3-2 at the death and earning a place in the final.
The girls smashed it from start to finish, great passing, communication and the sheer determination to get that ball over the line.
Goals from Ella and a wonder strike from Genesis in the last second of the game to give them the win.
Coaches’ POTM was Ella and Grace, solid performance and always gives 100%. Opposition POTM was Sophie.
A spokesperson said: “Me and Pete are so proud of the girls from when we first started in the season to now come on leaps and bounds and the hard work is now paying off – well done girls again.
“Thank you to all the parents cheering our girls on.”
