Help and advice on a range of issues, including loneliness at Christmas, will be on offer to Armley residents at an event later this month.

Agencies offering advice and support to the Armley community will come together at Armley One Stop Community Hub on Wednesday 15th November from 2pm-6pm.

The event will see representatives from West Yorkshire Police, NHS, Leeds City Council, Leeds City Credit Union, Armley Helping Hands, British Gas, MIND, Forward Leeds, Armley Community Hub and BARCA Leeds on hand to support people who have concerns about winter and the festive season.

Barca Leeds runs the Better Together contract for West Leeds which focuses on the social issues that lead to poor health, such as social isolation. Jasmine Swinerton, from Barca Leeds, said:

“Better Together staff will attend the Armley Winter Awareness Event and offer attendees soup and a roll, general advice on winter well-being and how to get involved in groups and services in their local area!”

Glenn Broadbent, of event organisers All Together Armley, said:

“We are delighted so many agencies have supported this event, while Christmas is a lovely time of year for most of us it can be a difficult, stressful and lonely time for some. We hope by holding this event we can help people deal with the worries they have for themselves or loved ones.”
