Plans for a row of four terrace houses and a block of 14 apartments have been submitted in Wortley.
The proposals, which include parking and landscaping, have been earmarked for an area of scrubland at 163 Lower Wortley Road. The houses would have three bedrooms and the apartment block would be four storeys in height.
The site contains an existing single storey office building, previously used as a housing office for Leeds City Council.
A design and access report submitted by applicant Paul McFadden, of Redcote Lane, said the apartment block has been reduced in volume by about 35% from initial schemes presented to council planners. The report added:
“The proposed development will create a sensible amount of new homes for the area, the proposed development will create residential units that would be for ‘normal people’ – this development is not city centre executive apartments or executive five-bedroom houses.”
The reports concludes the development: “… would provide a high-quality development in a sustainable location. The design has been developed in line with the pre-application advice and has sought to incorporate local residents’ comments where practical and appropriate within planning policy.”
