More than 100 people defied the rain to take part in a Wassail event in Burley Park with folk music, dancing, singing and a procession.
Organisers The Friends of Burley Park said there was an ‘amazing array’ of lanterns on display, and thanked all who contributed on Saturday, 31 January.
This Sunday (8 February) volunteers will be putting out stakes to mark out and protect the areas recently planted, along with mulching and composting.
New volunteers are very welcome. Meet by the bandstand at 10am. the event runs until 12pm.
“We’re fortunate to have a small group of dedicated committee members who keep this fabulous volunteer organisation running smoothly,” they said.
“However, to continue growing and strengthening what we do, we’d really benefit from some extra hands and fresh ideas.
“If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, now is a great time – whether it’s helping with planning, sharing skills, or simply offering occasional support. Your input could make a real difference, and we’d love to have you on board.”
