Labour claimed victory in yesterday’s Horsforth Town Council Brownberrie Ward by-election, with the result being announced just before 11pm.
Wenzdae Robbins, the Reform UK candidate, received 164 votes, Local Conservatives candidate Chris Calvert received 321, and Labour’s Alan Radford received 465.
There were seven spoiled or rejected ballot papers and the turnout was 34.8%.
Following his victory Alan Radford addressed the audience to thank the election staff and constituents.
“It’s been an interesting campaign, an interesting day,” he said. “I think the result shows that Horsforth Town Council is local. That’s the most important thing. It’s really not that political.
“We’re all here concerned about the community. Chris [Calvert] and I both have experience of the town council and that’s what we do, politics rarely raises its head.

“In the meantime it’s my job for the next couple of years so I’ll do my best to represent the ward and Horsforth in general.
“So thank you very much and let’s get on with it.”
Horsforth Town Council is elected to represent the community of Horsforth, address local concerns, host events and ratify spending decisions.
There are 22 elected town councillors, covering five wards, who are currently serving a four year term which began in May 2023.
Great result for a genuine local campaigner
Nobody cares, it’s just another irrelevant little town council.
You mean YOU don’t care, not ‘nobody’.
I suspect you’re not from Horsforth, either.
Democracy is never irrelevant what is irrelevant is people who have a negative attitude left me you
Beanie the good news the labour shirt are gone.
We will not SMASH THE GRANNY’S.
we will look after them do u understand that.
Obviously some dumb blinkered “labour for ever” voters !!
I agree whole heartedly. It’s madness
why are people still voting for this terrible goverment what are the people of Horsforth on, you need your heads looking at.
They’re not voting for the government Mark, they’re voting for the best person to take decisions on planning applications, local grants, support events etc. You do understand the difference between a little Town Council and the government, don’t you?
That may be so but many councillors will toe the party line and the instructions and agenda from central government
I agree whole heartedly. It’s madness
Cheer up! They could have voted Reform, but I think their screw ups are getting too well known!
Unbelievable.
its a by-election for the Horsforth Town Council and only one ward involved with a possible maximum amount of voters of around 3000
Labour in any shape or form means they stand for government policy. Will this council object to immigrants being introduced to there little place. Reform is the way to go as they stand for the real peoples values.
The reform candidate doesn’t live in Horsforth, inevitably leading to last place. Way to go!
Are you including Nottinghamshire County Council having to have an eighteen year old in charge?
I take it that you’re a millionaire and live in Dubai?
Who are unreal people? Are you a better person, endowed with greater wisdom perhaps, fro those who don’t agree with your views?
My opinion people vote for people they know and trust in local elections not for the party
Here’s my little comment
I say well done HORSFORTH I agree entirely with MR FLANAGAN
we probably need more of these LITTLE TOWN COUNCILS
I live in Bradford have done since 2018 anyway that’s enough about Bradford
The game is up 150 years of stitching the so called working class.
God i thought the Torys was bad
Just shows the disillusionment with the current voting system, 34.8,,% turnout.
