Essential repair works will be carried out to Richardshaw Lane Bridge over Stanningley Bypass, leading to evening and weekend lane and footpath closures.

The essential works are to replace the existing bridge waterproofing system, resurface the carriageway over the bridge and install new expansion joints.

The works will be installed in four phases later this month and next.

Phase 1

Full closure of the southbound side of Richardshaw Lane over the Stanningley Bypass from 8pm on Friday 31st May to 5am on Monday 3rd June. A diversion route will be signed for the duration of the closure. Northbound traffic will be unaffected.

Phase 2

Full closure of the northbound side of Richardshaw Lane over the Stanningley Bypass from 8pm on Friday 7th June to 5pm on Monday 10th June. A diversion route will be signed for the duration of the closure. Southbound traffic will be unaffected.

Phase 3

Partial closures of both footways from 8pm on Friday 14th June to 5pm on Monday 17th June. Pedestrian access will be maintained across the bridge at all times.

Phase 4

A full closure of the southbound side of Richardshaw Lane over the Stanningley By-pass from 8am to 5pm on Saturday 22nd June followed by a full closure northbound on Sunday 23rd June between 8am and 5pm.

A council spokesperson said:

“The works have been programmed so that neither of the May Bank Holiday weekends are affected.”

Further consultation will be carried out with Metro, emergency services, local businesses/residents and the Owlcotes Shopping Centre.
