West Leeds families are being encouraged to come together for a summer of sporting activities and fun at Swinnow Community Centre.
The free activities include football, breakdancing, rugby and sports for tots. The start the week commencing 20 July and run throughout the school summer holidays.
UK figures show nearly one in five people — and over a third of people in the most deprived areas — face severe barriers accessing sport., including high costs and poor facilities.
Swinnow Community Centre’s Lucy Munton said she hoped the summer-long activities would help get families more active, and also bring people together at the centre, where they can meet other people.
“We’re hopping. to show young people that sport can be for Ethan and that they can come here as a family for the day and have a good time – for free,” Lucy said.
“The main focus is about bringing the community together, making friends and coming together.”
There will be reasonable priced healthy food to buy in the cafe.

Swinnow’s summer of sport has been funded by a £1,000 grant from the ASDA Foundation, the sessions will be delivered by qualified sports coaches.
Other summer activities at the centre include family fun days on a Wednesday, 10.30am-2pm, a community cafe on Thursdays from 9.30am-1pm where kids can eat for £1.
