A 'speed hump' was caused due to concrete buckling in a 2017 heatwave.

Resurfacing work on parts of the Stanningley Bypass will be carried out this month, council highways chiefs have confirmed.

Due to buckling during heatwaves, Leeds City Council has been carrying out concrete joint repairs to sections of the Stanningley Bypass over the past five years and the outbound carriageway from Swinnow Lane to the Owlcotes Centre is now due to be resurfaced.

Start date is Monday, 15 August to Friday, 2 September.

A council spokesperson said: “It will be the same set-up as previous occasions. Work will take place on the outbound carriageway with a contraflow set-up on the opposite lanes to maintain traffic flows.

“The first and last shifts will involve lane closures to facilitate implementing the contraflow system. The traffic management will be in place throughout the duration but work will take place on site during daytime only.

“This contraflow set up has run successfully on previous occasions and we do not foresee any additional issues this time around.”
