Signage installed to encourage responsible dog owners at Queens Park

A Pudsey councillor is calling on dog walkers to clean up after their pets following concerns over dog fouling in Queens Park.

Following concerns raised by Pudsey Juniors Football Club and local residents, Councillor Simon Seary (Cons, Pudsey) asked the council to install signage at Queens Park, around the new football fields which are used by youngsters.

It follows complaints from members of the public and members of Pudsey Juniors football club, who play there.

Cllr Seary said: “These pitches are ‘public open space’ and free for everyone to enjoy, but we must all play our part in keeping them clean and safe. Dog mess is not only unpleasant, it’s a serious health risk, especially to the children/teams who use these pitches every week.

Pudsey Juniors worked incredibly hard to secure funding for the initial works and continue to invest in maintaining this space for the benefit of the whole community.

“The least we can do is respect that effort.

“Please pick up after your dog, and if you see others not doing so, don’t be afraid to remind them what’s at stake. Let’s work together to keep our green spaces safe and welcoming for everyone.”
