Developers have said construction is under way at Canal Walk, a new development of 67 homes at the former Airedale Mills site in Rodley.
Overlooking the Leeds–Liverpool Canal and River Aire, developers Rodley Homes aim to bring the long-vacant fsite back into use.
Canal Walk will comprise a mix of apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes, designed to combine modern living with a picturesque setting.
The first homes are expected to be completed in 2027, with the overall development scheduled for completion in 2028.
The scheme received outline planning permission in 2019 and detailed approval in 2023, despite local opposition and concerns over a swing bridge connecting to the development.
Rodley Homes say they have worked closely with Leeds City Council and the Canal & River Trust to ensure the scheme responds sensitively to its surroundings.

An open house and show home launch for prospective buyers is planned for October 2026.

Would you buy a house here, when there isn’t even a reliable way to cross the canal, for you to go anywhere, or for people to get to you?
Roads, there are roads nearby one of which (via Rodley roundabout) I think you’ll find goes anywhere you want to drive or walk to. What sort of idiot are you?

You’re obviously unfamiliar with what’s been going on at Airedale Mills, so I’m surprised you’ve commented. LdsBfd is referring to the unreliable swing bridge which has been the subject of huge local discussion (and many articles in WLD – it’s also mentioned in this one). And LdsBfd is making a very valid point.
You are, of course, entitled to your view even if you’re not familiar with the issues, but there’s no need to name call, either.

It’s so wonderful to see Rodley being transformed into a stunning post industrial village with a unique identity.
Next we need to focus on the regeneration of Stanningley which really lets down West Leeds.
