Community projects and services could net funding at Outer West Community Committee

Closed circuit television cameras, community projects and festive light switch ons are among the projects seeking funding from councillors sitting on the Outer West Community Committee.

Councillors will meet at Farnley Hall on Monday (29 June) to decide a range of business, including deciding funding of local projects.

The committee is made up of councillors from Bramley & Stanningley, Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey wards.

Funding applications ward members will consider includes:

  • £5,935 for Flourishing Families in Farnley to deliver family cookery clubs, community cooking sessions and early years oracy activities in Farnley.
  • £1,080 for Leeds International Concert Season’s Summer Bands in Leeds Parks 2026, two in Victoria Park, Calverley, one in Westroyd Park, Farsley.
  • £1,477 for Calverley hanging baskets for LCC Communities Team.
  • £3,988 towards Farsley Festive Light Switch On 2026 for Breeze Team.
  • £7,732 towards Bramley Festive lights switch on or Breeze Team.
  • £1,828 for New Farnley In Bloom for seasonal planting and maintenance of planters across New Farnley.
  • £750 for Pudsey Scarecrow Festival.
  • £13,000 for the provision and maintenance of public space CCTV across Outer West to deter crime and reduce anti-social behaviour.
  • £2,088 for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Multi Sport Camp in Calverley & Farsley ward.
  • £1,787 for weekly Sunny Bank Mills Youth Club, Farsley.
  • £1,560 for Andy’s Youth Project, towards room hire.
  • £8,300 Vocational Boot Camp for Building Futures Together for construction training for young people in Bramley.
  • £11,600 Vocational Boot Camp for Building Futures Together for construction training for young people in Pudsey.
  • £2,000 for Leeds West Academy Basketball Club to deliver free weekly basketball sessions for Leeds Youth Services.
  • £2,000 for Barca Junior Youth Group in Bramley, run by Barca Leeds.
  • £2,925 for Breeze in the Park 2026 â€“ Outer West in Calverley & Farsley, delivering summer holiday events.
  • £900 for barrier and handrail at Pudsey footpath to improve safety.
  • £2,000 for a storage container at Wortley Rec for Leeds City Council for use by the Friends of Wortley Rec group.

A council report says that £12,541 was approved after the last meeting by delegated decision for lighting at the Swinnow Lane to Wellstone Road footpath, along with £3,500 for Farsley Festival.

The Outer West Community Committee will be held on Monday, 29 June at 1pm in the Farnley Hall Boardroom. There will be a public forum at the start of the meeting, where members of the public have the opportunity to speak for up to three minutes about local issues affecting the Outer West wards.
