If you love choral music, then you need to head to Marks & Spencer in Pudsey on Saturday.
The Owlcotes Centre store, along with some of the city’s most iconic and prestigious venues, will come alive with the sound of choral music as some of the finest choirs in our region perform in the first Voices Yorkshire event of 2019.
Victoria Quarter, The Leeds City Museum and The Corn Exchange will be filled with the sound of live choral music on Saturday. For several hours, you will hear the beautiful and uplifting sound of people singing together – performing free, for the people of Leeds.
Sing Day Leeds is the first of many events forming part of the brand new, Yorkshire-wide choral festival, Voices Yorkshire – the brainchild of the team at The Yorkshire College of Music and Drama.
Choral director Tim Knight said:
“We’re stunned at the response so far and very grateful for the support of so many high-profile choirs and venues across Leeds. To have our choirs singing in historic sites like The Grand Hall in Temple Newsam and the beautiful Broderick Hall in the museum is wonderful.
“It’s going to be a big year for choral music across Yorkshire. Sing Day Leeds is all about showcasing and promoting Yorkshire choirs, but it is also about promoting and supporting some of the city’s best venues.”
