A public event will launch a consultation into a conservation management plan for Gotts Mansion and Gotts and Armley Parks.
Leeds City Council and Wade’s Charity, with the support of Leeds Civic Trust, are undertaking the consultation over a management plan for the house and parks, once the home of industrialist and owner of Armley Mills, Benjamin Gott.
A post on the Armley Mills Facebook page states: “This project is critical to understanding the heritage and importance of the house and parks, ensuring they are correctly cared for, both now and in the future.”
Janet Hindle, Wade’s Charity Property Advisor, told WLD: “Wade’s Charity is delighted to be working with the City Council, Leeds Civic Trust and heritage consultants Donald Insall Associates (DIA) on the development of the conservation management plan.
“We want people from across the community to tell us what’s special to them about Gotts Mansion, Gotts Park and neighbouring Armley Park. We’d like to collect their memories of using the house and parks, and we’d like to hear their ideas on future development.”
The consultation launch will take place on Wednesday, 15 July from 3pm-7pm at Armley House (Gott’s Mansion) cafe in Gott’s Park, Armley Ridge Road.
The drop-in session is open to members of the public to hear more about the project and to share their thoughts and views through a number of interactive activities for all ages.
Janet added: “Come along to the launch at the Mansion and join in the fun activities DIA are planning. If you can’t make the event on 15 July, you can still contribute via the consultation website.”
