Move over George Formby! Learn to play ukulele in Bramley

Fancy taking up a new hobby? A course in Bramley can help teach you how to play the ukulele.

Ten classes are available at Bramley Lawn Social Centre, just off Stanningley Road, under the guidance of experienced ukulele player Jessica Bowie.

Learn all the basics you need to be able to play chords and pick melodies to a variety of classic pop, country and blues songs. Follow in the footsteps of famous ukulele player George Formby!

The classes run from 7pm – 8.15pm from April 27.

Start playing at Bramley Lawn

During the course you will learn:

  • How to hold your uke
  • How to tune your uke
  • How to read chord boxes, understand song sheets and how Tab works
  • How to strum
  • Basic fingerpicking
  • Basic melody picking

Three other ukulele groups are held weekly in Bramley. More details on Jessica’s website.
