MHA Communities Horsforth are well and truly in the festive spirit – and there’s much for them to celebrate after another busy year.
MHA Communities Horsforth run a very busy programme of social events, craft sessions and exercise sessions for 12 months of the year. But December sees their events take on a more seasonal feel.
On Thursday members enjoyed a lovely Christmas Lunch at Corn Mill Lodge in Pudsey, with a three-course meal and entertainment provided by entertainer Craig Carlisle. A lovely time of friendship, food and dancing.
Last week members enjoyed the Christmas party at Central Methodist Church, with turkey and stuffing sandwiches, soup, mince pies and chocolates.
There was entertainment too from Miss Marina Mae with seasonal songs and everyone enjoyed a boogie and a chit chat.
For the other 11 months of the year MHA Communities Horsforth run a wide ranging programme of activities across the week for over 55’s, with many of the activities taking place at Central Methodist Church on Town Street, opposite the library.
Tuesdays start with a coffee morning at 9:30am followed by Bacon Butty Club and Games Hour, Wednesdays is craft group and chairobics, Thursday Lunch Club and Friday everyone is invited to join a short walk in the local area.

In addition to the well attended weekly activities there have been a number of special events at MHA Horsforth this year, enjoyed by members and their friends and families of all ages.
At the end of March it was a full house for a very special fashion show, when models of all ages took to the catwalk to model fashions from local outlet Very Stylish Girl, with hair by Rene Fuller at Horsforth salon Fullers Hair.
In May the special VE Day lunch club commemorated the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, with corned beef hash and jelly and ice cream on the menu, and a special quiz, with national events shown on the big screen.
And members also pulled out all the stops to create beautiful knitted wartime figures and aeroplanes especially to mark the nation’s events of commemoration.
The many and talented volunteers at MHA enjoyed a lunch event at The Bridge to mark Volunteers week in June, enjoying lovely food in good company.
And during the summer holidays Horsforth residents and their children were invited to join in weekly events, including a gingerbread hunt and a teddy bears picnic.
But that’s not quite the end of things for 2025 for MHA Communities Horsforth.
Mince pie drop ins
While the normal programme takes a break for the remainder of the month there will be four Members’ Mince Pie Drop ins, between 10am and 12pm on the 23rd, Christmas Eve, the 30th and New Year’s Eve.
These drop ins have been funded by Horsforth Community Assets Project (HCAP).
Come along on your own or with family and friends for a Christmas chat over a cuppa and mince pie. If you’re over 55 and not a member why not ask staff how to join whilst you’re there?
Volunteers welcome
If you fancy a new challenge for 2026 MHA Communities Horsforth is looking for volunteers for some of their activities.
Volunteers are needed to make drinks and wash up for Tuesdays dancing group, Bacon Butty Club requires helping hands in the kitchen and serving food and drinks on Tuesdays, as does the Thursday Lunch Club.
A minibus a driver is also required, with MIDAS training funded, to assist with transport for day to day events and trips out.
