Things got spicy in Armley on Saturday night when Mel C performed live at Project House.
Former Spice girl Melanie Chisholm – better known as Mel C – performed live on Saturday night to celebrate the release of her new album ‘Sweat’.
The album went on sale on Friday, May 1 and is available as a digital download. Mel C opened with her new single: a catchy dance track also called Sweat. Mel C lived up to her reputation as ‘Sporty Spice’ by wearing her trademark blue tracksuit with white stripes, a throwback to the 90s fashion.
Mel C said that her music will be hitting the charts soon and said to the crowd that if their reception was anything to go by she would be a chart success.
Mel C, who has had success as a singer, is now also a respected DJ in UK and Europe. She is known for playing high energy house and disco sets and has played a prestigious venues in Ibiza.
The hundreds of Spice Girls fans who earlier had been lining the streets to gain entry to the event were shocked when Mel B (Scary Spice) arrived at Project House unannounced to watch Mel C perform.
The crowd was cheering and people trying to take selfies with Mel B who calmly made her way through the crowd to the side of the stage to watch her perform.
Whilst on stage Mel C called over to her fellow singer hinting that she should join her on stage. The crowd went wild and started changing Mel B’s name in hope she would get up on stage. Mel B joined Mel C on stage and she told the audience that she and Mel B had not sang together since 2019.
A delighted audience were treated to both spice girls who together they sang a Spice Girls’ 1997 hit track “Spice Up Your Life”.
Mel B has recently moved back to West Yorkshire after living in Los Angeles, USA. Mel B used to live in Burley and attended what is now Leeds West Academy – previously known as Intake School in Bramley.
Project House, which opened in July 2023, is an independent and locally owned multi-use events space set in a former tile warehouse on Armley Road.
