Man dies in hospital following hit and run at Swinnow Lane junction

A 75-year-old man has died after he was run over by a car which failed to stop while he was crossing the road.

WLD previously reported that the man had been seriously injured as he crossed at the junction of Leeds and Bradford Road and Swinnow Lane at about 9.05pm on Friday, January 13.

The vehicle travelled from Leeds and Bradford Road at the junction with the Halfway House public house and turned right onto Swinnow Lane and then left on to Broad Lane.

The man died in hospital on Monday, 16 January – three days after the incident.

Police have today issued a further appeal for witnesses.

A 31-year-old man from Bradford has been arrested in connection with the collision and has been released on bail for enquiries to continue. A Hyundai car has also been recovered for further tests.
