The petition was started by resident Charlene Wanless, who is concerned about the safety of local youngsters crossing the road following a number of near misses.

It’s meant months of delays and frustration for west Leeds motorists, but a major road improvement scheme at Thornbury Barracks roundabout is now complete.

The 10-month project has been carried out at the roundabout where the A647 Stanningley Road meets the B6154 to improve access on the primary road link between Leeds and Bradford.

But there are fears the stalled renovation project on the former Mike’s Carpets building stands on a knife-edge. It’s also feared that financing may be lost if there are further delays.
