FC Farsley were denied their first-ever point by a late goal in an entertaining 3-2 defeat at Yorkshire Ammers.
The visitors, playing only their third competitive game, deservedly took the lead through Tyler Polwarth’s superbly executed half volley in the 19th minute. Earlier, striker Lewis Hanse had forced the home keeper into a save when clean through.
The home side finished the half the stronger team, but were unable to test Farsley keeper Fletcher.
Ammers took control of the game early in the second half as Farsley struggled to retain the ball, and quick-fire goals from Salam and Laycock in 60th and 63rd minutes turned the game around to give the home side a 2-1 lead.
Farsley weren’t done though, with Hanse netting a superb solo equaliser with a composed finish in the 70th minute to set up a tense finish.
But the home side won it in the 82nd minute, Laycock bundling home from close range after a swift break.
Farsley, reduced to ten men late on, threw players forward but were unable to fashion a clear chance as they suffered their third straight defeat.
On Saturday, FC Farsley are back at Throstle Nest and hoping for another big crowd when Ealandians are the visitors, 2pm kick off.
