As part of the Great British Spring Clean volunteers in Pudsey are hosting three litter picking events over the upcoming weeks.

The Litter Free Pudsey Group holds regular clean-ups across the town and encourages local residents to hold their own litter picks.

The national Great British Spr ing Clean is run by The Tidy Britain Group and runs from 28 May to 13 June 2021.

The first event will be meeting at Tyersal Pharmacy on Sunday 30 May at 10am as a huge thank you to community stalwart Paul Mann and all his efforts he puts into the community as ‘the Tyersal caretaker’.

The second litter pick will be on Sunday, 6 June at 10am volunteers will be covering Swinnow as a thank you to Swinnow’s very own dynamic duo John Ryder and Yvonne Allman, who do so much for the community there. More details to follow.

The final stop will be New Pudsey Station on 13 June, described by organiser James Crabtree as a ‘forgotten area of Pudsey’. The event will start at 10am and more details will follow.

Mr Crabtree, who was nominated at this year’s Compassionate City Awards as a volunteer of the year, said:

“Please bring friends and family to help make a difference to our community. All you have to do is show up as all equipment will be provided and Covid rules will be followed to make sure we all safe.”

West Leeds Dispatch is supporting local community clean-ups during the Great British Spring Clean, to encourage more people to take a pride in where they live.

We’ll be shining a light on events across West Leeds and highlighting individuals doing their own litter picks in their communities.

If you have an event or want to recognise someone going that extra mile, drop us an e-mail on news@westleedsdispatch.com.

  1. I passed a litter picker last week and stopped to congratulate her on doing such a brilliant job. I only wish it could extend down Richardshaw Lane. The litter left at the bus stop at Primrose Hill is an eyesore and the road sweepers never get behind the traffic light barriers at the Kingdom Hall – the tab ends and piles of dirt and litter is disgusting and I don’t know who to contact about this. Can you help please?
