Swinnow Community Centre has plenty to offer the community during the festive period.

The small, friendly centre, which is at the heart of the Swinnow community, has lined up a myriad of events, parties, discos, and give-aways in the run up to Christmas. Many of these include items which have been kindly donated by local organisations.

The Christmas events kicked off on Saturday, 4 December with a Christmas performance from Pudsey-based Invisible Pain Theatre Company. There was a great turn-out, and hot food and mulled wine.

  • On Friday, 10 December there will be a Christmas market, with lots of hand-made goods, which include wax melts, kids’ clothes, knitted items, wooden hand-made gifts, gift baskets a toy stall, printed glass ware to a huge chocolate tombola. Cafe will be open. 6.30pm until 8.30pm
  • On December 18 there will be a children’s Christmas party, entrance is £3 per child, which includes disco food and gift. It runs 2pm until 4pm with a later one for  the youth groups, which also includes a disco, food and a gift, from 6.30 until 8.30pm
  • On December 22 the centre will be giving out food hampers. There are 50 Christmas family food hampers, 30 elderly Christmas hampers, 100 children’s selection boxes, 15 ‘hugs in a mug’ and 15 tins of biscuits – that centre manager Yvonne All-man explains “have been  supplied by the wonderful Preston Green”. 14 gifts have also supplied by Preston Green.

Yvonne adds that the selection boxes, the DJ, and food for the Christmas party were donated by the Main Line Club Pool Team, who raised the money doing raffles.
