Hallowe’en Events in West Leeds for all the family – UPDATED

After such a lovely summer it’s time to wrap up warm and enjoy some of the many Hallowe’en events going on throughout the coming week, writes Jill Buckley.

Armley

Armley Conservative Club holds its annual Halloween party this Saturday 27th from 4pm. Fancy dress contest for the kids and the adults and a pumpkin carving competition as well as fun and games and food.

The Travellers Rest at Hill Top invites you to “have the time of your life” at their Halloween Disco on Wednesday 31st October from 2pm. There’ll be music from DJ Stewie, games and fancy dress prizes.

Bramley

This Friday 26th Bounce and Wobble, Stay and Play return to St Peter’s Church in Bramley for a Hallowe’en-themed special from 9.30am. Cost is £3 per child with refreshments included and fancy dress encouraged.

If you want an energetic start to the various activities this Saturday why not start with Bramley parkrun at 9am at Bramley Park. All abilities encouraged, simply register online before the day and print out your unique barcode. Oh, and don’t forget your Hallowe’en fancy dress! For the younger ones there’s also Junior parkrun on Sunday morning, still at 9am at Bramley Park. Again fancy dress is encouraged! Register on the parkrun website here.

The Abbey Inn on Pollard Lane invites you to celebrate Halloween with them this Saturday the 27th with a kiddies party between 2pm and 4pm, then its the adults turn in the evening with prizes for fancy dress. The Abbey prides itself on its wonderful Hallowe’en decorations which are well worth a visit!

Also this Saturday Bramley Baths is holding a Spooky Splashtacular. The event starts with a spooky flash mob dance session before a look round the creepy corridors of spiders webs and ghosts. Visit the haunted graveyard then have a swim in the pool with creepy music and lots of fun. Several sessions are available and you can book here. There are also a number of other spooky events at the Baths during half term, including a Hallowe’en Eve swim on the 30th, starting 1.30pm.

Meanwhile on Sunday 28th Bramley Villagers Club invites you to its Kids Halloween Party between 2pm and 5pm. The cost is £1.50 per child. There’ll be a kids entertainer, face painting, fancy dress competition, disco and party games. Contact the club on 0113 2578571.

McDonalds in Butt Lane invite you to their free Halloween event this Saturday 27th between 12pm and 3pm. The staff will all be wearing their Haloween costumes and would love you to too!

There’s a couple of events for Halloween at The Old Unicorn this year. All ages are welcome to their Halloween Family Fun Day from 12pm on Sunday 28th October. Join them for face painting, apple bobbing and hook a duck, have a go on the tombola, check out the craft station or treat yourself to something from the cake sale. For the adults the Charity Halloween quiz is on Wednesday 31st October from 9:30pm. Tickets are £2 each with a maximum of six per team.

Join the Groundwork NEWY team at Bramley Fall Woods next week for some outdoor fun on Tuesday October 30th between 10 am and 3pm. You should pre-book as places are limited. There’ll be pumpkin carving, slime making, rock decorating and other crafty activities. Contact nicola.ramsden@groundwork.org.uk.

Farsley

Farsley Working Mens Club holds its Kids Halloween Party this Saturday from 4pm. Join the disco and party games with Dave and Danny and get your best fancy dress on as there’ll be prizes for kids and bigger kids.

Kirkstall

Kirkstall Leisure Centre’s Baby Boogie takes place on Thursday November 1st. There’s a disco with 90’s music, toys and soft play with a spooky theme. £3.80 admission, with various discounts for Leeds Card Holders. Call 0113 3782086 to book.

Sneaky Experience are back at Kirkstall Abbey with an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hocus Pocus on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October. As well as seeing the film, on Saturday you can also take part in a themed live action board game experience. For ticket details click here.

Calling all Harry Potter fans, Hotel Transylvanians, lovers of Room on the Broom and those who watch Coco back to back with Maleficent… Boomchikkaboom and Kirkstall Valley Development Trust will be taking over Kirkstall Abbey on Hallowe’en with a range of activities themed around your favourite spooky movies. From Wand Making, Slime School and Pumpkin Patches to Messy Playas, Foam Parties and our own version of trick or treat, so each child will have some goodies to take home. There’s something for all age groups between 0-11 but all ages are always welcome. Tickets here.

A crazed abbot roams Kirkstall Abbey. The Ghost Tour is an unsettling journey through the bleakest moments of the Abbey’s history. Dare you explore its walls? Watch genuine Wiccan Witches perform their rituals and chant incantations. Visit psychic readers in the Giant Marquee whilst choosing from a range of street food and visit the Dead-End Bar where Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available to purchase. Tickets are sold with an allocated “Terror Tour Period”. This is the time your ticket allows entry to your terror tour. Please dress up warm, the tour is outside although the bar, food stalls and psychics are all under cover. This event is suitable for 12+ although the ghost tour will get progressively more scary throughout the evening so please no under 16s for the tour after 7.30pm. Tickets here.

Pudsey

Pudsey Congs Cricket Club on Intake Road is holding a Halloween party on Saturday 27th from 7.30pm till late. Join in the disco, have a go on the raffle or put on your Halloween best to win a fancy dress prize.

The Britannia on Swinnow Road is having a Kids Halloween Party on Monday 29th October from 4pm to 6pm. Join them for a disco and fancy dress competition with lots of prizes, and there’s free face painting too.

The Bankhouse Inn invites you to their Halloween party this Saturday 27th from 5pm. Prizes for best dressed, best pumpkin, spooky games and disco.

Rodley

If Halloween isn’t your thing or you need some time out from the kids parties why not support the Rodley Church Roof Fund at their 2018 quiz this Saturday 27th at the Church Hall, Wesley Street, Rodley opposite the Crown and Anchor. Teams of up to six people are invited at a cost of £5 per person including supper. For more information and tickets contact 0113 2290767. Tickets are available on the night but may be limited.
