FC Farsley put in a batting performance as they took on Frickley Athletic on Saturday in their third pre-season game.
The Weavers travelled to Frickley knowing their hosts sat two leagues higher them, but were well organised and showed positive signs of gelling as a team.
The hosts were, predictably, the better side. But Farsley defended well for long spells and proved tough opponents.
The breakthrough finally arrived six minutes before half time. An inviting cross was met by by the head of Cable to send Frickley into a narrow 1-0 lead at the break.
The second goal arrived in the 56th minute, with a superb strike flying into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Farsley continued to battle and fashioned a couple of second half openings, firing one effort wide and another straight at the keeper.
Each Farsley pre-season performance continues to show progress, as they look ahead to starting life in the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division, which kicks off in mid August.
