FC Farsley has secured a place in the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League Supreme Division for the 2026/2027 season.
WLD reported last week that the Throstle Nest club had been refused a place in Step 6 of the semi-professional National League System for the 2026/2027 season.
A club statement confirmed the ‘positive and significant’ decision, which is subject to formal approval at the league AGM.
“It provides stability, clarity and an exciting platform from which FC Farsley can continue building for the future,” the statement added.
David and Katie Stockdale bought the club last December, leading to the liquidation of Farsley Celtic and the formation of FC Farsley.
David said: “Over recent weeks there has been a huge amount of work taking place behind the scenes, and securing our place within the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League Supreme Division gives everyone clarity and something exciting to look forward to ahead of the new season.
“Most importantly, it allows us to continue moving the club forward in the right way. We are building something with long-term ambition, and this gives us a strong platform to continue developing both on and off the pitch.”
Katie added: “This journey has always been about creating a football club that represents the community and brings people together, and we believe this is another important step in that process. The positivity, support and encouragement we have received has been incredible, and we are excited to continue building alongside our supporters, players, volunteers and partners.
“We know there is still a lot of hard work ahead, but there is also a genuine belief in what FC Farsley can achieve in the years ahead.”
Work is ongoing to prepare for the laying of an artificial surface at Throstle Nest, two years on from the removal of the grass pitch by the previous owner.
It’s understood the club aims to apply Step 6 of the semi-professional National League System for the 2027-28 season.
Management team confirmed
The club has confirmed the appointment of David Stockdale as First Team Manager and Director of Football, alongside Assistant Manager Jack Whelan and Coach James Bradd.
Former Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper David Stockdale said: “I’m really excited to officially step into these roles and continue helping shape the future of FC Farsley both on and off the pitch.
“From the beginning, the focus has been on building a football club with the right culture, identity and long-term structure. Taking on the Director of Football role alongside managing the first team allows us to create consistency throughout the football side of the club and continue building strong foundations for the future.
“Having Jack and James alongside me is incredibly important. They both bring great character, energy and commitment, and together we are focused on creating a hardworking, competitive and united environment that everyone connected with the club can be proud of.”
