Farsley Celtic left frustrated by Ossett Albion

Farsley were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw in challenging conditions thanks to a dogged and determined performance from Ossett Albion, writes Thomas Ritchie.

Ossett had a good chance to take an early lead as Isaac Baldwin drove across goal with Celts’ ‘keeper Graeme McKibbin getting a crucial touch to turn the ball wide. Farsley then started to grow into the game with James Walshaw’s header testing Jordan Bradshaw from Jordan Deacey’s corner.

Bradshaw then made a fine save to prevent Lewis Nightingale from breaking the deadlock after the ball was worked nicely down the left before Deacey played him in.

Just after the half hour mark Farsley had the ball in the back of the net with Walshaw heading home Deacey’s free-kick only to be denied by the assistant who flagged for offside.

Nightingale then had another chance as Bradshaw gave the ball away but responded well to deny Nightingale’s first time effort.

Jackson Hassanyeh almost gave Ossett the lead against the run of play with his strike being pushed onto the post by Graeme Mckibbin.

A rasping shot from Nathan Woodward that thudded against the crossbar almost gave The Unicorns the advantage against the run of pay with McKibbin rooted to the spot.

Farsley were then denied what could have been the winner as from a corner Adam Clayton saw his powerful header saved before the ball appeared to be bundled over the line before being cleared, however the assistant referee controversially decided the ball had not crossed the line and prevented what would have been a crucial goal.

In a scrappy final ten minutes neither side managed to fashion any clear-cut opportunities with both sides having to settle for a point. Farsley host Burscough on Saturday in their next game which is a crucial game for The Celts if they are to keep pace with the leaders, and it would be great to get a big crowd down to cheer the team on.
